Mikko Salonen appointed new CEO of Field Geospatial

The Board of Directors at Field Geospatial AS is pleased to announce the appointment of Mikko Salonen as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 18. He will take over after Krister Pedersen who has been acting as interim CEO.

Salonen joined Field in 2022 as Executive Vice President of Operations leading Field's operations across 5 countries, before now stepping into the CEO role. 

“Mikko Salonen brings over 30 years of industry experience to the role. With his deep understanding of Field’s business and strategic vision, we are confident that his leadership and personal qualities will continue to drive the company forward, fostering further innovation and excellence,” says Karin Anita Svindseth, Chairperson of Field Geospatial. 

Salonen holds a Master of Science in Cartography, GIS, and Surveying and has held several leadership roles in the industry, including Managing Director and Country Manager at Blom Kartta in Finland (2013–2017). His career is also complemented by his involvement with the Finnish Orienteering Federation and the Finnish Olympic Committee, demonstrating his ability to lead and develop different type of organizations.

Having worked closely with Krister Pedersen and the rest of the management team for several years, I am looking forward to leading the company into its next phase,” says Salonen. 

Chairperson of Field, Svindseth also commented: "On behalf of the board, I would like to express our gratitude to Krister Pedersen for his exceptional service and dedication as the interim CEO over the past one and a half years. He has played a pivotal role in guiding the company through a period of significant transformation.”
