Field is proud to play a role in shaping the future of Lerkendal Stadion. On behalf of RBK, we carried out extensive 3D scanning and mapping of the legendary venue, resulting in a complete point cloud and a detailed digital twin. This digital twin provides a robust foundation for the next phase of planning and development.
The expansion of Lerkendal Stadium was approved by Trondheim City Council in November 2025 and is estimated to cost around NOK 1 billion. Field has contributed to the planning work through several phases.
The work began with a full 3D scan of the stadium when replacing the lighting system. To ensure high accuracy and efficient implementation, we combined drone scanning with two types of laser scanners: Leica RTC360 and NavVis VLX. This combination provided detailed and reliable data – even for demanding areas such as roof structures.

The project also includes a new building east of Lerkendal Stadium, with a total area of approximately 27,450 square meters. Of this, around 22,000 square meters will be used for offices, industry, services, catering, and retail.
The new building will have up to nine floors facing the stadium, three of which will be basement floors. Field is contributing to this project with detailed scanning of both the grandstand and the outdoor area to the east. In this phase, too, several scanning technologies and drones are being combined to ensure the best possible data baseline.
