What do you do at Field?
I’ve been hired out to a construction company since 2019, and the value of the road contract I’m working on is about 300 million NOK. As a surveyor I am responsible for the production surveys for road and constructions, machine management, producing the required documentation, quality control of models and establishment/maintenance of the projects benchmark network. My work is varied, and at the moment I am busy with documentation related to the finalization of the project.
How would you describe the culture at Field?
If I could use just one word to describe the company, it would be ‘forward-leaning’. We’re always looking for ways to do things better and more efficiently.
Which of our 4 values (‘Caring, Curious, Credible, Competent’) is closest to your heart, and why?
Competent, because it’s really our competence that brings in the revenue. Without it, we would be a mediocre organisation, and that’s neither attractive to our customers nor the people who work here.
How is Field different to other companies you’ve worked in?
Working in Field comes with a very high degree of independence. There’s a lot of room for the people here to explore and work autonomously.
What is your favourite thing about working in Field?
Being part of an organisation that’s constantly changing.
How can Field contribute to a more sustainable future?
By being conscious of one’s own footprint, both at work and at home. Capturing data is at the heart of what we do – whether it’s in the air, underwater, or on the ground – and we must therefore think about how to reduce our impact on the environment.
